Eating in Edinburgh

On our recent trip to Edinburgh we ate and drank:

bacon, Scottish beef sirloin steak, lamb, haggis, black pudding, mussels, oysters, a scallop, prawns, salmon, fish and chips, potatoes (mashed, baked and chips), watercress, mushrooms, cheese, berries, apple and raspberry crumble, chocolate, cider, beer, whisky (ahem! free samples at a whisky shop for tourists), tap water and coffee.

Some eating and drinking establishments we liked were:

The Salisbury Arms Pub

The Breakfast Room at the Salisbury Green Hotel (our hotel)

The Café Royal Oyster Bar

The Grill Room at The Dome.

The service was invariably cheerful and efficient…but prices were a little expensive. Nevertheless, if you choose well, you can eat well in Edinburgh. Even so, I’m happy to be eating Italian again.
