White Christmas

We spent Christmas in the Italian ski village of  San Vigilio di Marebbe.

The weather conditions were hostile on the road to our destination.

Weather conditions on the A22.

But it was worth the drive.   The village had not changed since our visit last year.  And Garni Cristallo, our B&B/ski lodge, was as welcoming and as comfortable as ever.

The Corona Hotel - a very pretty village landmark.

Another important village landmark: the bakery.

Unfortunately, the weather was not very good this year: wind, fog and bitter coldness out on the slopes.

View from the cablecar (and Signor Lu's elbow).

Winter wonderland view from our bedroom window.

We spent a lot of time in the jacuzzi and sauna, warming our bones and not so much time skiing.  As always we ate very, very well.  Lots of hand-made pasta, grilled meat, grilled fish, hearty winter veg and desserts…

The start of Christmas dinner at the delectably eclectic Tabarel restaurant.

It was a lovely way to celebrate Christmas, even though we did the least amount of skiing ever.

Of course, on our day of departure, the sky was blue and the sun was shining. Ideal skiing conditions.  Ideal driving home conditions too (every cloud…).
